heartbreak marathon (man out of time)

deadline's coming, the milestone's weighting me down
the point of no return is gonna eventually come around
if i don't start right now to get my act together
ain't no amount of work gonna make things any better
getting going on the essentials
get cranking on fixing my heart and mind
not gonna answer the salesman's calls
keep convincing me that I'm not lying
when i say losing you doesn't mean losing it all
but it's hard to believe a tale that tall
so i sing to myself this old lyric line
"no one works harder than a man out of time"
the day you left me was like the starting line
the race was on, but i just sat there and cried
other heartbroken runners are coming round the bend
better get up if i'm gonna finish before the end
getting going on the essentials
get cranking on fixing my heart and mind
not gonna answer the salesman's calls
keep convincing me that I'm not lying
when i say losing you doesn't mean losing it all
but it's hard to believe a tale that tall
so i sing to myself this old lyric line
"no one works harder than a man out of time"
I know there's a chance you're running too
trying to finish this race on time without turning blue
this track's not easy; wouldn't wish it on anyone
seems there's always 10 more laps before we're almost done
getting going on the essentials
get cranking on fixing my heart and mind
not gonna answer the salesman's calls
keep convincing me that I'm not lying
when i say losing you doesn't mean losing it all
but it's hard to believe a tale that tall
so i sing to myself this old lyric line
no one runs harder than a man out of time
If I get you some Gatorade will you take it from me?
Can we run this track together, just to see?
that the way to beat this heartbreak marathon
is to cross the line holding hands, just keep walking on?
gettin going on the essentials
get cranking on fixing my heart and mind
not gonna answer the salesman's calls
keep convincing me that I'm not lyin
when i say losing you isn't losing it all
but it's hard to believe a tale that tall
so i sing to myself this old lyric line
no one runs harder than a man out of time

no one works harder than a man out of time
no one cries harder than a man out of time
