guitar

When I was just a boy,I picked up a fine guitar
I loved its smooth golden face,
The sweet sound of new strings in place,
It took me pretty far.

Now I'm ready to get going to where I've never been before
I'm gonna find six strings to inspire
Something to take me higher
Right down there at the guitar store

My girl says get the best,
And I love it that she feels that way
I'm choosing wood, bone and steel
Feeling the great way it makes me feel
And how it makes me want to write and play

When I'm an old man and my fingers bend and start to curl
I want to know I kept growing each year
Going always farther, never staying here,
Adding something special to my world.

Now I'm ready to get going to where I've never been before
I'm gonna find six strings to inspire
Something to take me higher
Right down there at the guitar store
