the reopening of my heart

Did anyone hear? It was more than a whisper.
Did anyone hear? It seemed so very short.
Was I the only one that heard that sound when I kissed her?
The squeaky reopening of my heart.

Slammed shut and sealed tight with rust
the corrosion of my loss held me in
Any attempt at love was bound to be a bust
Cos I wasn't gonna risk it all again.

She came and found me without any trouble
Locked on with her sweet device
Pulled me out of that cold and aching rubble
Didn't even give me time to think twice

Did anyone hear? It was more than a whisper.
Did anyone hear? It seemed so very short.
Was I the only one that heard that sound when I kissed her?
The squeaky reopening of my heart.
