we all have dreams of what we want to be
we all have schemes in our hearts
somewhere along the way someone tells us
we've got to play only our given parts

but there's not much joy in just workin for the man
buying what he says to buy
every girl and boy should follow their heart plan
and not slow down when they're asked "why?"

I'm putting my feet back down on the street
Just like I always thought I could
I'm not afraid of how I'm made
and I'm going back to what I should
be and do
and that means being with you
