simple signs

glowing on green pines
orbs and figures hanging
together make simple signs
of the season's changing

angel absent from the peak
fragrant wreath dipping
hugs provide the warmth we seek
(and the nog we're sipping!)

gold, silver intertwine
upon wrist, neck and ear
and on the tree simple signs
of Christmas dreams held dear
