crying in the rain

sitting in the puddle with my arms around my knees
too tired from all the trying to care if anyone sees
worn out from being everything everyone needs
that's why i'm crying with the rain

when you sent me the message to let me know you really cared
when you told me that you really wished I could be there
instead of going way too fast in the middle of nowhere
that's when I started cryin with the rain
I'm crying with the rain, it won't out do me
When the clouds are dry and gone completely
I'll be hoping for a friend who will come by and see
The me I really am, and want nothing more from me
I know I looked so competent, confident and bold
the pressure to be what they wanted, they couldn't know
All the praise and the applause came with something more
The sweet clamor for perfection and an endless string of encores

On my bike in the pounding rain, pedaling hard to get far away
My fall won't be your burden, my crash will have no gain
Even if they saw me here, they wouldn't know what to say
Rocking myself in this puddle, crying in the rain
I'm crying with the rain, it won't out do me
When the clouds are dry and gone completely
I'll be hoping for a friend who will come by and see
The me I really am, and want nothing more from me
