shelter of a smile

i heard about that explosion just the other day
made me wonder what will happen next, what will come my way
nothing is very certain, trouble is all around
but what's really amazing is in the midst of it I've found
a friend who's always smiling at me
someone whose love keeps me feeling free
I know everything is going to be all right
Whenever I wake up to that smile.
late at night, homeless and out in the cold
there are faces barely seen, names I don't know
sleeping in a school, on pads spread out on the ground
I can't help but pray that they'll find what I have found
