a solid place

i have a solid place,
where i can stand
and wait for the day
as long as I can

a place of hope
a shelter of peace
where my heart knows
what my soul needs

it's inside your love that I can hide
inside your gracious arms is where I find
the strength to face the mirror
without looking away
the courage to feel a tremor
and still say
i have a solid place

my legs are weakened
by sitting long
my eyes dry as sand
on a desert lawn

but when I turn to you
I think of nothing less
than to drink the strong brew
of your loving kindness
it's inside your love that I can hide
inside your gracious arms is where I find
the strength to face the mirror
without looking away
the courage to feel a tremor
and still say
i have a solid place
