monsoon blow away

we used to watch the storms
on those july afternoons
watch the rain and the sand start to swirl
watch the lightning flash
on the valley's edge
with nothing but you and me in this world

now i'm sitting alone,
and with each crack
i see the mountain saying
you're not coming back
trying to figure out
what I can do to stop this pain

When the monsoons blow into my day
The rains don't wash these tears away
the winds don't bring you closer back to me
so I don't watch them anymore,
just listen to the sounds outside my door
waiting for this storm to go away

i search all the papers now
looking for news of you
to see if you're doing any of those great things
we would always talk about
but i stop reading when
I see another July monsoon is rolling in
