a little bit

"take my hand" was all he said
as he pulled me out of the mud
He wasn't worried about how I got there
or all the foolish things I'd done
he just offered me what he was able to give
an act of grace that let me live
it only takes a little bit
a little bit of kindness
to share life's most precious gift
and help others find it
Oh, I could complicate it
and make it something more
but it only takes a little bit
a little bit, that's for sure
I've been up, been knocked down;
I've been sittin pretty
like the biggest fish in the pond
like the mayor of the city
but that's just me inside my own head
if not for grace, I'm good as dead
it only takes a little bit
a little bit of kindness
to share life's most precious gift
and help others find it
Oh, I could complicate it
and make it something more
but it only takes a little bit
a little bit, that's for sure

I thought this was precious. Whether you offer to lift someone up literally or figuratively, it never goes unnoticed---especially by the recipient. I hope others will take your advice . . .
