She was doin it fast

Weren't any fences she wouldn't pass

that's when I began to see
runs by pigtails flyin
racing down the street
left the boy next door cryin
Thank God it wasn't me
There's somethin there I admire
Call it that stubborn streak
my momma always told me
"son, that girl is crazy"
my dad always warned me
"That girl is quite a pill"
And each Sunday School morning
Miss Kay told her to sit still
later on she fell for a boy
Fell like a chain-sawed tree
I knew he just wanted a toy
She wouldn't listen to me
And when she ran past me crying
it wasn't what i wanted to see
She was gone a long time
Went so very far away
Left town with the wrong guy
She didn't see it that way
In a random place, a random time
I bumped into her the other day
Now we're here on the couch
talkin how things have gone
She's trying to figure out
exactly where I came from
But I never let her out of my heart
waitin for her to come home to me
