road to Emmaus

On the road of disappointment
On the way to a town without hope
retelling all the happenings
of these final days

Can't believe what's been happening
Can't understand what went wrong
Gone over it so many times
Nothing more to say

here on the road to Emmaus
the road out of what might have been
we'll find our answers if we stop
looking within
listen to the words of the sages
and see with opened eyes
here on the road to Emmaus
on the way to surprise

sometimes we're all clueless
sometimes we just don't comprehend
what the real plan has been
when it happens

try to figure out the karma, find the wheel
that comes back around
expect the stars to tell us
what we should know

here on the road to Emmaus
the road out of what might have been
we'll find our answers if we stop
looking within
listen to the words of the sages
and see with opened eyes
here on the road to Emmaus
on the way to surprise

then it all becomes so clear
with the breaking of the bread
the fellowship around a hope
of what can now be

and though we can't see in front of us
who we want to hold on to
faith has been growing back
here inside of me
